From one end of this fair country to the other, we made the trip to the Wild Atlantic coast for an academic visit and presentation to the National University of Ireland, Galway and some fantastic family fun.
We made our way there through a rare Irish "Blizzard"

We were later told that Galway took the day off because there was white stuff in the air

Susan said: "I've never seen snow on that mountain". Ronan said: "I've never seen that mountain."
The trip there was interrupted by a 2 hour visit to a rest area playground so Daddy could get a grant submitted at the last minute. The kids loved the play area so it was not time lost and the grant of course will be funded, so win-win.
A quick skip down Quay Street
Dinner at a fun pub; the food was consumed, the craic was great.

Just gorgeous! And Stella photobombed it!
End of a long day, we poured into a great pub for some live traditional music. Stella even put on a quick dance, though we were not fast enough on the draw to capture it outside of our memories.
Day 2!
Keeping the kids occupied while we sit for a few minutes is a test of ingenuity each time. Luckily, we have (and celebrate, even when they are blurry), small successes!
We put Declan in this contraption and headed to the pub for a few hours...
The region of Claddagh in Galway is where the famous rings are from.
Stella got a claddagh ring that should fit her her whole life. The woman who makes them in this shop still wears the one her daddy bought for her when she was 6 - moving it from finger to finger as she grew, landing eventually on her pinky.
The University was beautiful and collaborations worked out well; we are planning a few more trips back during this sabbatical.
