Thatched Roof Cottage

We treated ourselves to a thatched roof cottage near Glenbeigh in The Ring of Kerry on 13 to 16 April. The location was ideal for touring this beautiful stretch of land that is part of the Iveragh Penninsula, one of several along the southwestern portion of Ireland. From our rental, we could see the Dingle Penninsula in the background (just past the kite flying 'plastic paddies' above in our Irish hats). We were also in a great spot to have just finished a long drive from Kinsale on our journey and have a calm but fun night with the kids and Bubba before driving both The Ring of Kerry and The Skellig Ring the next day.

Here is a cartoon map of the area that also shows the Skellig Rocks on the far left, which featured prominently in our trip. You can appreciate how the topography provides some amazing views but forces some wild 90, 110, and 130 degree turns going downhill.

We had no heat or hot water the first night and it could do with some more basics (CORKSCREW!!!), but it was hard to beat the location.
